Computer Update and New Blogs

I'm sure you all know what this is like...

No, I'm not back yet but I will be picking up the computer today. In the meantime, I'm working on some blogs concerning feral cats that I hope will be both informative and inspiring.

CAN You Believe It....

I am so sorry for this episode in my blog! I know I have faithful readers and I apologize to all of you.

The computer was fixed, had it home a day and it crashed again. The store fixing it said a faulty graphics card may have been the culprit. At first they thought it was the motherboard and hard drive; turned out to be the hard drive and graphics card were toasted but again, our data was saved.

I should be getting it back tomorrow and I will have a lot to catch up on when getting back to blogging and back to my Sailor story. 

I hope my faithful readers will come back and any new readers will find something of interest to them. 

Again, my apologies.

Computer Blues Again ~~~

So its been in the shop since Tuesday and today I am phoning to find out what's going on and when I can get it back. Computers SUCK!!

!!! Scaredy Cat !!!

So far today ~ its only 9:23 am ~ I haven't heard anything but I thought I'd post anyway. 

The computer I'm using has very little ram so I can't download my Picture program or the pics I have on my camera but I can tell you about this one silly barn cat.

This is not Scaredy! This cat looks far too sure of himself.

We call him Scaredy and for good reason. He's a black, half wild and half wanting to be babied barn cat who, the first time I had him in, freaked when I closed the door and went on a rampage running pellmell from living room window to patio door smashing his nose into a bloody pulp in the process as panic set in. He's quite recovered now, I'm happy to say and comes in only if I drag him in, then he's happy to be in. Right now he's sitting on the top part of the sofa where Sassy usually is ~ the second I move from my chair at the computer he's down and running toward me. He'll stay put as long as I don't move! 

I think he's been picked on by the other barn cats since he was a kitten because he's scared of them and my cats and very insecure about being round them if I'm not close by, but he has improved in that since I've been having him in. Used to be all he'd do is hide under the couch and never budge to come out, now he's on the sofa in plain view so he's improved that way.

On miserable weather days I have the barn cats in, those who want in, like today. He does have one sibling, a brother who is kind to him so he isn't completely bereft of friends. Emerald is doing her bit to keep the barn cats in line and reminding them just who's house this Really is! Her growing can be heard behind every stick of furniture I own!! 






Here is to getting that bloody computer back a second time and having it work for the rest of the year!

Computers! The BANE Of My Life !!!

So, here we are yet again! Took the computer in again today after it slowed down, froze a few times, then refused to start - at first. The first time it successfully restarted and after a lonngg wait, I could at least use the mouse. I had to change the size of the display so I had to shut it down and it took longer to restart, then I could not use the mouse at all. So, back to the store for 'fixing'; apparently it only takes a bump to upset something.

Will let you know what happens as I should hear from them by tomorrow.

I ~~ ' ~~ M BAAA - CK !!!!

YESSSSSS!  The computer works great; all the files and data was saved off the old drive and installed on the new hard drive and Hubby found it for me...  My Sailor story is SAVED and can resume tomorrow on schedule after a week of delay.

I have not been totally idle, I have some interesting pics for you today...

Newly Hatched Spiderlings! 

These tiny guys (and girls) graced the side paneling of my door not a few days ago. I'm sure the proud 'mom' was not far off. One or two did venture into the house but I think the majority are staying in the wall and door frame.

Just the tale end of May, on the first decently nice summery day we've had on the island, my cats were enjoying the warm sunshine as much as I was.

Update On Computer Crash

Did you ever think you'd be reading an update on a computer crash?

Future Shop is working on it today and I should hear, hopefully by today, when I can pick it up.

Its being worked on now and all they had left to do was to download the files and documents from the crashed hard drive and install all that onto the new hard drive. I am expecting a call later today but it also depends on how busy they are.

Ok, so I still have the spare but its not the same as having my regular computer with all my programs, files, documents, pictures and the rest of my data. Separation is sooooo stressful !!!

However, soon I will be happily reunited and typing my next blog for all my visitors and readers.  Hopefully this joyful event will happen today - if not, tomorrow. Stay tuned...

Computer Crash

Me on Friday...

I have to apologize to all of you for being away so long. Our computer crashed on Friday and Future Shop told us its due to a bad hard drive - our third so far.

My Computer phoning - "Is there a Doctor in the house?"

I hope to have it back tomorrow; they were able to download all our files, etc, off the old drive and install it on the new one so I won't be back to a time consuming square one when I finally get it home.

My Baby is Sick!!!

I will still have, I hope, the rest of my Sailor story as well. Among other things, I've had a great deal of hassle trying to back everything up. This, we are told, is a strong indication that the hard drive is about to fail completely.

Soon to be well and home

Thanks to everyone for their patience. I am using our 'spare' computer, the one we had problems with before and had to actually send to Ontario to get fixed. We got it back a week later to find it didn't work???  Merrill took a look at it and nothing was connected on the inside! Go figure. Its been working ok but I have absolutely no files, no pictures, no story, no nothing in it.

Once I get our regular computer back and check everything out, I will begin posting again. Here's to not having any more problems in the future once its fixed...

Computers Aren't Just For Humans

Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering.

Finally fed up, God said, 'THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job.'

So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away.

They moused.
They faxed.
They e-mailed.
They downloaded.
They did spreadsheets!
They wrote reports.
They created labels and cards.
They created charts and graphs.
They did some genealogy reports
They did every job known to man.

Jesus worked with Heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than hell.

Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and of course, the power went off..

Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld.

Jesus just sighed.

Finally the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching frantically,
screaming:

'It's gone! It's all GONE! 'I lost everything when the power went out!'

Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work.

Satan observed this and became irate.

'Wait!' he screamed. 'That's not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don't have any?'

God just shrugged and said, JESUS SAVES.
