AS A MATTER OF INTEREST... ~~~***~~~

I was a busy little bee on Doomsday, just past.

I left early to do my round of banking and errands, which included a tad of shopping ~ last minute essentials....

Once home, I scanned some pictures and edited them for use in future blogs, then made a nice lunch for my husband when he came in at noon. Played door person for the rather constant parade of cats, mine and the dairy cats, in and out of the house all day.

After that I was on FB for awhile and took one phone call from an acquaintance of my husbands.

Late PM I started making the dough for Banana Cinnamon Buns and put the dough to rise in the oven with the light turned on. I doubled the amount of filling...
homemade cinnamon buns
Double the amount of filling for maximum sweetness
This is an easy recipe using a nice batter dough that always turns out nice and uses up over-ripe bananas so they don't have to be thrown out.

Started supper round 6:30 pm as Merrill rarely gets in before 7:20; by the time he got in I was ready to roll the dough out, fill and cut it for its second rising.

The guys cutting logs for wood burners and loading the truck. Note the amount of snow we have....
Watched the third movie of Harry Potter with supper ~~ while Merrill went to bed, I was up until well after 10 pm baking my buns!

Still, no end-of-the-world came or went... it was a quiet day, more or less.

Woke today to wind and rain! No snow for Christmas! Ok by me.

And that ~*~ was my Doomsday!

GOOD MORNING DEAR READERS, WELCOME TO THE FIRST DAY OF WINTER

snow blocking door
This time last year we had to shovel the snow away from the door just to be able to leave the house!
Today there's just a slight covering of snow and its warm and calling for rain on Saturday. My cats want to be outside despite the snow.

Of course, there's always that 'one' who refuses to set paw outside and wants the door to stay open just so she can enjoy the sunshine from the dry environment of the porch. Right, Molly?

Then Again...
Cats in window
Maybe its better to just sit in a sunny, warm window and 'look' at the wintry day outside.

Today is very special. Its the Winter Solstice, its four days before Christmas and its Doomsday all rolled into one! Now, if that ain't special, I don't know what is. The tree is decorated, the gifts are waiting and the 25th is coming - for me and my family, anyway. For 95% of the rest of the world, who knows. OH, YES, the Mayans do.

See you all here tomorrow... Hope that guy has another use for his Ark! No life savings are left....
Hmmm, there's a topic of conversation ~ what did you spend your time doing on doomsday?

Have a GRREEAT DOOMSDAY!!!

??? HOW'S WINTER TREATING YOU ???

2012 Winter on Prince Edward Island, Canada so far...
cats watching snowfall
This was the scene on the morning of December 10th, 2012; there are 4 cats in this picture and none were impressed with Mother Nature's indecision!
first snowfall

Same day, a few hours later. I brightened the pic above and ...
first real snowfall in natural light
left this one the way the great outdoors 'really' looked.
Then it rained all night!
Imagine waking to this scene this morning...
green grass

 It looks like Spring!
green grass and sunshine
 and the sun is out and about;
black cat looks out window
Blacky, taking in the 'new' scenery... from the inside.

Ain't it amazing what a ton of overnight rain can do for an inch and a half of fresh snow.
Its up in the air, literally, whether this island will see a green or white Christmas this year.

~~~ ! Here Comes The Vegetable Man ! ~~~
Veggiefella knows (the weather)
October 12, 2009 Organic Carrots for Market Garden
                     The Veggiefella knows the weather…
He knows it’s foggy....
Because he can’t find his way to the garden.
He knows it’s sunny….
Because he can see his shadow.
He knows it’s windy….
Because his hat keeps blowing off his head.
He knows it’s raining….
Because his back is getting wet.
He knows the UV index is high….
Because his skin is turning red.
He knows it’s a clear night….
Because the big fat moon is shining on his face,
He knows when he opens his door and there is not a weed in sight....
He should close the door and go back inside, Because outside it’s far too white.
                                   Because “you know” what happened.
Sailor and the Ruined Castle, Con't
How Extraordinary! Once Sailor made his decision to return to the castle his mind suddenly perceived a clarity which had, before now, eluded him and the peculiar dank vapor over the town seemed to unexpectedly lift, while the rain began receding back into the dark clouds above. The day cleared as they broke and scudded across the sky; driven by the wind. It was so sudden, as if on cue and was it triggered by Sailor's decision? Sailor thought to himself 'So. It was true.' The apprehension he'd been experiencing for a week now, the vague feelings of unwanted and unlooked for change... all leading to this decisive moment in his life. The fog indeed, had come for him. It had found him and it was driving him, inexorably, towards the ruined castle on the hill above the village. Now, to find out why!
Working On ~~~
Sorry to be so late. I had an issue with a barn cat today. His name is Scaredy and for good reason ~ he's an absolute TWAWT!
So named because he's a barn cat that refuses to let anyone near him, although he is one to come round my patio door, begging. As you know my door(s) are open to all comers, within reason. Well, the usual barn cats came in this morning and as I quickly found out so did Scaredy. He came in (for the first time ever and probably the last) without me knowing it. It poured buckets of rain half the day so I closed the glass patio door. Lord God! All hell broke loose when Scaredy realized he couldn't get out!!!
He must have slammed into the patio door four times and the front window at least twice while running ramshackle through the house. Stupid cat smashed his nose up pretty good in the process. That other black cat did the same but Merrill was able to check him out and he wasn't hurt to the point where he would not recover; I'm sure the same will be said of Scaredy. Anyway, he managed to crawl under the fridge and I had to drag that out and get him free... Then he got himself trapped behind the big brown chair next to the patio door so I could finally shoo him outside. Haven't seen him since! Still have two greys and the black one in though, barn cats all and all as scared, at first as he is. They quickly learned the benefits.
Today is our 10th Anniversary ~~~
Dumb cat!
