??? HOW'S WINTER TREATING YOU ???

2012 Winter on Prince Edward Island, Canada so far...
cats watching snowfall
This was the scene on the morning of December 10th, 2012; there are 4 cats in this picture and none were impressed with Mother Nature's indecision!
first snowfall

Same day, a few hours later. I brightened the pic above and ...
first real snowfall in natural light
left this one the way the great outdoors 'really' looked.
Then it rained all night!
Imagine waking to this scene this morning...
green grass

 It looks like Spring!
green grass and sunshine
 and the sun is out and about;
black cat looks out window
Blacky, taking in the 'new' scenery... from the inside.

Ain't it amazing what a ton of overnight rain can do for an inch and a half of fresh snow.
Its up in the air, literally, whether this island will see a green or white Christmas this year.

Marriage and Sacrifice ~ Choices To Make

wedding preparations

As you know my husband and I live on Prince Edward Island in Canada. All of my family is in Kelowna, BC making it impossible to visit without having both money and time availability.

My niece is getting married on May 12th!

My hubby has a way that I could go but he'd have to stay behind...
Flying clear across a country isn't cheap at the best of times, even with his overtime pay. Its finally May ~ I never thought I'd be so happy to see the backend of April! ~ and its time to start prepping for the field work on the farm so things are about to finally get busy, that's the other reason for his staying behind.

I could go ~ I haven't seen my family in about two years now ~ I could have a great time getting off this island, away from the winter's hardships, enjoy myself at my only niece's wedding... but, I'd be leaving behind a man who deserves a vacation more than I do. He's a very dedicated, married man and a very hard worker and provider. I decided against attending the wedding. His overtime can be better spent catching up on our credit cards and a bill or too. Besides, I just applied for a job and will be hearing about it next week. So I have to be available, and here. Its an island and unless you have 'people' here and are not from 'away', you don't have much chance of finding work during the winter and you have to apply in early spring to get anything at all.

A Wedding Day is a very BIG DEAL! One of the biggest in your life but there is something even bigger.

Your Wedding Day takes one day in your life; your marriage takes the rest of it.

Marriage and self-sacrifice go hand in hand. I think he was just a little upset that I decided not to go especially after he found a way to arrange it so I could. Men are problem solvers after all and he's a very creative one. He understands my reasoning though. Yet another aspect of marriage - sacrifice, when needed and not when needed. Its a choice

!! This Is Totally AWESOME !!

Have you ever watched the tv series 24 where terrorist things happen and are prevented all in the space of one hour episodes that make up a day in the life of? I confess to having watched it myself but couldn't get into it. Perhaps I would have if I`d known about this. There was one scene that top military officials in the United States objected to so strenuously that, on the basis that it jeopardized national security no less, the scene was cut and never aired. What was it? It was this:

And if you look really closely this cat is wearing a cat collar with bell and its red!  Seems just a little silly doesn't it?  Or does it, given the history of the military's use of cats during wartime. Like this picture taken during the Vietnam War with kitty leading the troops.

Vietnam War and cat
Do you see the Siamese?
Apparently cats proved to be extremely adept at navigating the unfamiliar terrain of a foreign country.

A program dubbed, appropriately enough, Cats - was born during the crisis of the Second World War and was highly instrumental during the Normandy invasion.

It remains unclear just what role these war time cats played and the US military isn't sharing this information but I'm sure they helped the moral of the troops in a significant way.

Is this cool or WHAT!
