First Storytelling Cat - Molly's Tail

Early one morning, a month or so past, I happened to glance out the window to see cows wandering in our yard. I thought 'Hmm, that shouldn't be.' These animals being more powerful than a human, if they had any notion of their strength....
the day the cows got out

Seems they got a part of the white fence down far enough to step over it completely and...
They walked into 'Freedom!' Though they had no notion of it.
Yet they were only interested in grass - the grass that looks 'greener' over the fence...

and now, Molly's storytelling starts...

Seems she was out for a wander same as the cows were and came round the corner of our drive just as....
around the corner
My hubby was out putting the fence back together after he coaxed the cows back into their side of the 'greener grass'. Can you see her?

 And then,
a cat, a fence and a man
taking little interest in what in the world he was doing, banging away with a hammer this early on a quiet and serene Saturday morning, she wandered past him. I can't help but wonder what she'd have done seeing 'Cow Invaders' wandering her turf! She's normally very aggressive towards other cats and especially dogs; so a cow, I don't pretend to know what her reaction would have been. Maybe that's for the best! You think?

So off she continued toward the house....
You'd think she had no interest

Molly waiting
.... only to sit and wait for the hammering and banging to cease; she awaited the arrival of her favorite person in the house, my hubby! Who at the moment was at odd angles with the fence...
Cat by the van
A picture tells a story with less than a couple of words and Molly decided to change her position so she could watch the curious 'goings on' until all the activity stopped and he came in for coffee. At which point, she followed him in. I sometimes pause and wonder whether her ancestry doesn't include a dog somewhere in her pedigree.

Why, you ask?

Storytelling With Cats and Other Stories

Its hard to believe that I've just spent the entire day editing most of the over 1500 pictures from my camera - once I got everything downloaded that is and I still have a 'small' ton to do yet and these were just specific pics that I plan to use in my blogs.

Uggggh! I can't SIT for that long!!!

I decided on two categories: Storytelling with Cats - this will be about my cats, the farm cats and any other cats that 'visit' and Other Stories, will consist of non-cat tails (excuse the pun).

I will be working on the first of the stories, in both categories, over the weekend to have some items to start posting within the week. But I will leave you with this...

Tabby politely waiting to be noticed
My name is Coony, short for Coon-Cat

Coony is the eldest of the dairy cats, some twelve years young. She is 'happily' spayed and mostly a housecat. She demands attention by politely asking, using her paws and meowing constantly in a bid to be noticed. If ignored, she takes steps to avoid the busyness that overtakes our lives; immediately, leaving you in no doubt that she is asking for your attentiveness towards her.
Actually she's a bit of a klutz, she jumps on items and basically crashes into the rest in her bliss of attention.

She has 'other' habits, like this one:
Cat opens door to cupboard
She decided to get my attention by exploring my baking cupboard while she waited for me to notice her
She, like every other cat, knows how much trouble she'll be in but, wait till you see the next snap;

Cat in the cupboard
Now, isn't this just too precious???

Yes, of course, she got in trouble but just enough to let her know what's out of bounds to her. By the way, she opened the cupboard door herself...
She's non-stop chatty and snores when she sleeps! I'm serious!

Priceless

kittens watching birds
I love my cats and any animal God created. They deserve our care and attention simply for being themselves and adding so much to our lives.

dog and toddler going for a walk
Can you conceive of a world with no animals in it? Can you imagine your family without your pets?
Cow cuddles a girl
What we consider a 'humble' animal; those that we raise for the purpose of killing for our tables, too often SHAME us with their own brand of compassion.
collie and kitten
Often they learn to get along better than we do...

Animals, of all species, add a grace to our lives that we would otherwise sorely lack.
They grace us with their humor...
lion and lioness
Their loyalty, love and companionship...
dog locked in car with no windows open
How DARE we treat them this way????
If we are SHAMED, we deserve what accompanies that shame!

Remember, this summer, to take extra special care of the animals ~ cats, dogs, cows... ~ and practice what YOU PREACH!
Simple kindness to what we call 'dumb' animals is also simple compassion on our part. Do you lack that?
I find it extremely disquieting that in our day and age there are those among us who still need a whack upside the head as a reminder. What does this lack of compassion say about us?

Marriage and Sacrifice ~ Choices To Make

wedding preparations

As you know my husband and I live on Prince Edward Island in Canada. All of my family is in Kelowna, BC making it impossible to visit without having both money and time availability.

My niece is getting married on May 12th!

My hubby has a way that I could go but he'd have to stay behind...
Flying clear across a country isn't cheap at the best of times, even with his overtime pay. Its finally May ~ I never thought I'd be so happy to see the backend of April! ~ and its time to start prepping for the field work on the farm so things are about to finally get busy, that's the other reason for his staying behind.

I could go ~ I haven't seen my family in about two years now ~ I could have a great time getting off this island, away from the winter's hardships, enjoy myself at my only niece's wedding... but, I'd be leaving behind a man who deserves a vacation more than I do. He's a very dedicated, married man and a very hard worker and provider. I decided against attending the wedding. His overtime can be better spent catching up on our credit cards and a bill or too. Besides, I just applied for a job and will be hearing about it next week. So I have to be available, and here. Its an island and unless you have 'people' here and are not from 'away', you don't have much chance of finding work during the winter and you have to apply in early spring to get anything at all.

A Wedding Day is a very BIG DEAL! One of the biggest in your life but there is something even bigger.

Your Wedding Day takes one day in your life; your marriage takes the rest of it.

Marriage and self-sacrifice go hand in hand. I think he was just a little upset that I decided not to go especially after he found a way to arrange it so I could. Men are problem solvers after all and he's a very creative one. He understands my reasoning though. Yet another aspect of marriage - sacrifice, when needed and not when needed. Its a choice
