Totally AWESOME Again!

Ok so this got me curious and I researched a little more and I came up with this:
Bungee Jumping Cats
!Bungee Jumping Cats!
In training exercises over the California Desert, paratroopers with parachutes and cats, without, leap out of planes!  Now the cats, for obvious reasons, don`t have parachutes and going on the logic that cats always land on their feet... Well, one only assumes these planes were flying just high enough to the ground to give the cats time to twist their tiny bodies so when they did land, they dropped onto their paws unhurt. Apparently it worked. I'm just assuming they jumped without wearing cat collars with bells.

What do you think Bin Laden would have thought if he`d known an American Cat was hunting him along with the US troops!  Its true.

Abbottabad Raid
Abbottabad Raid from an American Special Ops Cat`s viewpoint
The story behind this picture is that US troops were on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden`s lair and they weren`t the only ones. Get this, in this image of the Abbottabad raid, special ops kitty here sneaks up on Bin Laden`s bodyguard. After all, felines don`t need a ton of specialized equipment to see in the dark like the troop do. We are assuming the bodyguard had no idea about the sneaky infiltrator. I can`t help but wonder if he or she was wearing a cat collar with bell!

This is right up there with one of my favorite tv programs, William Shatner`s Weird or What!

!! This Is Totally AWESOME !!

Have you ever watched the tv series 24 where terrorist things happen and are prevented all in the space of one hour episodes that make up a day in the life of? I confess to having watched it myself but couldn't get into it. Perhaps I would have if I`d known about this. There was one scene that top military officials in the United States objected to so strenuously that, on the basis that it jeopardized national security no less, the scene was cut and never aired. What was it? It was this:

And if you look really closely this cat is wearing a cat collar with bell and its red!  Seems just a little silly doesn't it?  Or does it, given the history of the military's use of cats during wartime. Like this picture taken during the Vietnam War with kitty leading the troops.

Vietnam War and cat
Do you see the Siamese?
Apparently cats proved to be extremely adept at navigating the unfamiliar terrain of a foreign country.

A program dubbed, appropriately enough, Cats - was born during the crisis of the Second World War and was highly instrumental during the Normandy invasion.

It remains unclear just what role these war time cats played and the US military isn't sharing this information but I'm sure they helped the moral of the troops in a significant way.

Is this cool or WHAT!

Doing a Little Research on Wartime Cats

Tomorrow's blog will be about wartime cats.

Here is one unsung hero who moved in with the troops!  He killed and chased mice away from valuable food stores that would have been devoured and contaminated. So grateful were the soldiers that they not only made Hammer an honorary member (a.k.a. Pfc Hammer), of the US Army Unit serving in Iraq in 2004, but they applied for and got help from both the Alley Cat Allies and the Military Mascots that brought him to America and to a new home and life in Colorado with is old comrade in arms Staff Sgt, Rick Bousfield.

Check back here tomorrow for the article.

And Then Came…

Winston the cat, short for Winston Churchill
And then came… Winston. Once again Sassy and this time Molly graced us with little ones. Now there were eight kittens and three cats in our family. Emmy was curious about them but highly concerned lest they take the attention away from her. I assured her this would not happen and she was happy, though she remained suspicious of them until they grew older and she realized, they were her personal animated ‘toys’. She was never too rough with them as they made a good job of nipping her if she did.

I had found homes for them on one of the more popular classifieds engines online and as each one found a home, I found I had one left, a little tabby male with a darling personality. Compared to the three females he is mild and calm and half the time couldn’t figure out what all the ruckus is about with the sparing between Molly and Sassy. Winston is Molly’s baby; it seemed that people wanted females instead of males so we kept him for ourselves.
He’s a beautifully colored dark stripped tabby with a line of color that extends under his chin making him look as if he’s wearing a white bib. He is the calmest of the four and rarely gets excited about much, being more cautious about new things whereas Emmy will dive right in, regardless of the consequences.

Being of an age now to be aggressive in play, a fact Emerald distinctly dislikes since she can be somewhat of a bully at times, their play can get quite yowly at times. Winny is strictly an indoor cat at this time, the one time he did venture outside he wasn’t impressed; he’s decided it has to be the right temperature for him to grace the world with his presence. He prefers to look out the window instead.
Now that I have introduced them all, the intention of this blog is to not only share cat stories but to endeavor to offer other information from my own personal experiences with these unique animals and share them with my readers. In upcoming articles I will write about practical things like how to write successful ads that get immediate results when finding homes for kittens and cats, especially online; naturopathy that I have used for cat health and well-being, raising kittens, saving strays and throwaways; how to help farm and feral cats.

I hope you will stay tuned for these upcoming articles, stories, quotes, ideas, names and even a cat food or treat recipe or two. Thank you for stopping by.
